Do you know the difference between the Tabernacle, and the Temple? Did you know that the Father never requested the Temple David desired to build? In fact, according to David, the Father told him NOT to build the Temple.
“Go and say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Father “Are you the one who should build Me a house to dwell in? For I have not dwelt in a house since the day I brought up the sons of Israel from Egypt, even to this day; but I have been moving about in a tent, even in a tabernacle Wherever I have gone with all the sons of Israel, did I speak a word with one of the tribes of Israel, which I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’”’ 2 Samuel 7:5-7
Perhaps the Temple and Kingdom the Father desired through David was never meant to be a building at all.
"When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a *house (1004) for My name, and I will establish the *throne (3678) of his kingdom forever. I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men, but My lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you."
-2 Samuel 7:12-15
*1004. bayith - ׳י׳ב of earlier tent of worship (tabernacle).
*3678. kisse or kisseh - seat of honor, authority
Solomon is an antitype of the Messiah. Solomon turned his back on the Father, and his kingdom was ripped from him and given to his servant Jeroboam. The kingdoms of men all failed and fell. The throne (authority) of this kingdom remains, but not in the physical form. The role of the One who sits in this throne is not that of a worldly king, but that of a High Priest.
“Our fathers had the tabernacle of testimony in the wilderness, just as He who spoke to Moses directed him to make it according to the pattern which he had seen. And having received it in their turn, our fathers brought it in with Joshua upon dispossessing the nations whom the Father drove out before our fathers, until the time of David. David found favor in the Father's sight, and asked that he might find a dwelling place for the heavenly Father of Jacob. But it was Solomon who built a house for Him. However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says:
‘Heaven is My throne,
And earth is the footstool of My feet;
What kind of house will you build for Me?’ says the Lord,
‘Or what place is there for My repose?
‘Was it not My hand which made all these things?’
“You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did. Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become; you who received the law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it.”
The Father that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is the Father of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
He said to me, "Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell among the sons of Israel forever. And the house of Israel will not again defile My holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their harlotry and by the corpses of their kings when they die,by setting their threshold by My threshold and their door post beside My door post, with only the wall between Me and them. And they have defiled My holy name by their abominations which they have committed. So I have consumed them in My anger.
"Now let them put away their harlotry and the corpses of their kings far from Me; and I will dwell among them forever.
"As for you, son of man, describe the temple to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the plan.
1 Corinthians 3:16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of the Father, and [that] the Spirit of the Father dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of the Father, him shall the Father destroy; for the temple of the Father is holy, which [temple] ye are.
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness (the son of destruction) is revealed. He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship. So he will seat himself in the temple of the Father, proclaiming himself to be the Father.
Do not trust in deceptive words and say, "This is the temple of the the Father, the temple of the Father, the temple of the Father!"
2 Corinthians 6:16
And what agreement hath the temple of the Father with idols? for ye are the temple of the living Father; as the Father hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their Father, and they shall be my people.
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of the Father; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Messiah himself being the chief corner [stone]; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Father: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of the Father through the Spirit.
And said, This [fellow] said, I am able to destroy the temple of the Father, and to build it in three days.
Messiah answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Messiah had said.
Strong's for the Greek term "hieron" translated as "temple" refer to a physical temple.
Strong's for the Greek term "naos" translated as "temple" refers to the body of Messiah.
He put His name in "This House" (meaning David, not the physical Temple).
The woman *said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.” 21 Messiah *said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Judeans (House of David). 23 But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 the Father is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Beware of Temple builders in our midst. The temples and towers built by men do not hold the Father's authority. WE ARE THE LIVING TEMPLE This is the Temple that we seek…. not a building of stone built by human hands.
As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men, but chosen and precious in the Father’s sight, you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to the Father through Messiah. For it stands in Scripture:
“See, I lay in Zion a stone,
a chosen and precious cornerstone;
and the one who believes in Him
will never be put to shame.”
To you who believe, then, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
“The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,"
“A stone of stumbling
and a rock of offense.”
They stumble because they disobey the message—and to this they were appointed.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for the Father's own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of the Father once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
1 Peter 2:4-10
If you ask a modern Jew (not to be confused with the Hebrew Judeans of the Bible) why they don't continue the sacrificial system, the response will point to the lack of a temple. If the explanation for why we can’t keep the sacrificial system is that there is no temple, how did they manage for 488 years to perform the sacrifice. From the giving of the Law 1446BC to the completion of the temple in 966BC there was no temple. We can only speculate why Jews don't observe His Word, and choose instead to follow their Rabbi and Talmud. The answer for those in Messiah is that Messiah displayed the perfect sacrifice so that we no longer have to worship with the blood of animals.
For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Hebrews 10:1-4
But shouldn't we also sacrifice ourselves as Messiah had done? Should we not also lay down our lives (our selfish will) for Him, as all good servants do? Be a living stone in His Holy Temple!
